We’ve added new Canva MCP tools for creating designs and transforming images in creative-agent workflows.

Create designs with create-design, generate visuals with generate-image, and refine image assets with remove-background and separate-image-layers.

New tools include:

  • create-design and get-create-design-async-job — generate a new editable design using Canva’s upgraded models. These replace the previous generate-design tool.
  • generate-image and get-generate-image-job — generate a flat image for a creative workflow.
  • remove-background — remove an image background.
  • separate-image-layers and get-separate-image-layers-job — separate an image into editable layers.

These additions make it easier to move from a creative brief to generated assets and Canva designs programmatically. We’ll be updating our docs with more examples of these tools over the coming days and weeks.

We’re also improving onboarding over the next couple of weeks to make it easier to create and manage MCP clients.
