App submission guideline update: Copycat apps

Hello Developers,

We have revised our app submission checklist to include an important new section: Make sure your app idea is unique .

This new guideline will help ensure your original ideas stand out and that users can discover truly useful, creative tools. Moving forward, any new apps submitted after April 9, 2025, that are deemed to be copycats will not proceed to the review stage.

We appreciate your understanding and we’ll be looking forward to your new and unique apps in the future!

After this post, I still noticed more than 10 apps continued to be released. This means the Canva Team allows similar products like this to be published.

In this case, most of them are different styles, so not exactly copycat, are them? Both PixelPortrait and Pixelate seem to deal with pixelation. Both Mosaicify and MosaicMaker seems to deal with mosaic. So, they might be copycat (would need to actually to use the apps to see if the are really the same), but the others seems to be different.
