The Canva MCP server is now generally available (GA) and can be set up through the developer portal - you can start using it with your agents and products to work with Canva’s design capabilities today.

This means you can access our new tools and improvements to existing tools, giving developers more ways to create, edit, discover, and manage Canva content. Here’s a quick overview of what’s included.

What’s included

The current toolset covers the core steps from generating a design to refining and managing it:

  • Generation — Generate high-quality designs and turn flat images into editable designs.

  • Design operations — Resize, copy, and merge designs.

  • Editing — Make existing Canva designs even better with editing tools.

  • Images — Generate images and remove their backgrounds.

  • Brand templates and autofill — Add consistency and determinism to your agents; these tools are available on Pro+ plans.

  • Discovery — Pull context from Canva into your agent.

  • Assets, export, and folders — Manage assets and designs across these tools.

What developers can do

The Canva MCP server can support workflows that move from an initial idea to an editable, refined, and organized design:

  • Start from an idea or image — Generate a high-quality design or turn a flat image into an editable design.

  • Adapt a design — Resize, copy, merge, and edit existing Canva designs.
